Bacteria analysis: Coliform / E.coli, Total Viable Count (TVC)

This suite of tests has been put together to determine the overall potability of a water supply, such as a well or borehole. It is a suitable check to see if water can be used as Drinking Water (potable water) and to see if there are any problems. It can be used for well, ground, tap, borehole as well as spring water. Although it is not a full private water supply analysis – it is a good general check to see if there are any problems with common elements.

Suitable for:  Fresh water samples; specially designed for private water supplies, including water from tanks, wells, springs, boreholes, ponds etc.This test is not a full private water supply analysis but a good general analysis to see if there are any major problems.

The kit for laboratory analysis contains:

  • Clear step-by-step instructions on how to collect the water sample(s),
  • Two sample pots to take water samples of 500ml and 1000ml,
  • Pre-paid return packaging,
  • Analysis by a UKAS accredited laboratory*.

Each order is shipped with 1x pre-paid return packaging; if you are planning on taking samples at different times/places and returning them separately, then please place separate orders.(*The laboratory has been accredited by UKAS for bacteria analysis of potable as well as water from spa & pool.)How to use: Once you have ordered on our website, we will send you water sample bottles, clear instructions and postage box to send the sample for laboratory analysis. Results will be sent per Email (to the Email address used to place the order) within 10-12 working days after the water sample has been received.

  • Courier collection is included within your order. To ensure correct analysis, you should:
    • Take the sample on the same day of the courier collection
    • Keep it cool until courier collection

Expiry: Water sample to be returned within 7 weeks of order date (unless otherwise agreed).Results:

  • You will receive a report with the test result for each element. This report shows the test results in the appropriate measurement, like ppm, mg/l, cfu/100ml etc. The report does not include an interpretation of the test results. For drinking water, these can be compared to the Drinking Water Guidelines set for the UK.
  • Colour & odour – a description of colour & odour detected will be given, this is a qualitative test.

Please note:

  • We require a full water sample to be able to perform the tests. Refunds will not be offered where minimum volume of the sample requirements are not met.
  • Water samples should be taken the same day they are collected (this is vital for accurate analysis). Any results received outside of the specified holding time will receive a comment on the report to state the results could be compromised. Samples can be taken and posted Monday to Thursday. (For customers from outer Hebrides, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and Cornwall: please check in advance to ensure overnight delivery is available in your area, refunds can not be given where services are not available).
  • If you are planning to have more than 1 sample analysed, then all samples need to be taken and shipped to us for analysis at the same time. If you are planning on taking the samples at different times and/or places, then please place separate orders so that we can supply the correct amount of insulated packaging and pre-paid postage labels.
  • Do not mix more than one sample per bottle; please ensure one sample bottle is used per sample outlet.
  • This service is only available for UK customers.
  • Failure to comply with the requirements for sample collection might result in a failed analysis of your water sample. We can not refund orders where instructions have not been followed.
